Art

To purchase art is not that easy… or is it - after all?

Art enriches …

To find suitable and fine art is a challenge.
Apart from monetary constraints the main motives for selecting and buying art are of aesthetic and emotional nature, i.e. gut feeling plays a major role.

Art is…

there is simply no universal or binding and by far no correct answer to the frequently asked question. “what is art?”

Famous artists have tried to supply an answer but, at the end of the day, they will have circumscribed their personal understanding of art in a short sentence.

There are countless examples such as:
“Art does not reproduce the visible, rather, it makes visible” (Paul Klee)

"A work of art is the biggest problem (riddle) but man is the answer" (Joseph Beuys)

If you try to answer some of the following questions you might approach an individual and personal understanding of art:

  • Do I like to observe and contemplate a piece of art for longer periods of time?
  • Does it arouse a feeling of contentment ?
  • Once I observe art, do I altercate with it ?
  • … and, do I get away from it all ?
  • Do I consider a particular piece of art as aesthetic ?
  • Can I dream / contemplate while viewing a piece of art ?
  • Does it have a strong attraction on me ?
  • What impact does art have on me ?
  • Do I care about my direct environment – at home, in the office ?
  • Does it remain in my memory ?
  • Do you like it – does it meet your approval ?
  • Is it the right painting or sculpture for the designated room?
  • Does it appeal to my intellect ?
  • Am I prepared to open myself to new things ?
